Opening Remarks

Welcome to our third annual virtual conference, “Reframing Nursing: Nurses in Business.”

The Canadian Association of Self-Employed Regulated Nurses is dedicated to supporting nurses in business. I believe independent practice represents nursing’s true professional autonomy. For too long, nursing has been defined by traditional institutional settings; just employees of provincially funded programs.

Nurses’ power to transform health is found in our scope of practice. When entrepreneurs apply their expertise to their full scope—nurses in business— they make a meaningful impact on population health.

We have an excellent program and an incredible day ahead. Half of this seminar's focus is on essential business skills to help nurses create, manage, and eventually sell successful businesses. The other half explores cannabinoid science and the nursing skills needed to provide plant-based medicine. We will also hear from nurses who have built cannabis-centred businesses.

This conference is designed to offer practical strategies and inspiration to help you thrive as a nurse in business. Whether you are launching your first independent venture, growing an established practice, or redefining nurse-led care in your community, you are part of an important healthcare transformation.
